Official Hall Opening & New Park and Playground Ideas

All community members are warmly invited to Eyrecourt Hall & Event Centre on Sunday 2 March from 6-8pm for the official hall reopening and unveiling of the fundraising plaques, as well as the community consultation event for the development of Eyrecourt Park & Playground, and a display of local historical images and information. Music and light refreshments will be provided from 6pm. Further details below and in the poster:

- Hall reopening and unveiling of plaques

Thank you to all for supporting the various fundraisers in aid of Eyrecourt Hall & Event Centre. With your local support and funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development (via the Community Centre Investment Fund), the significant refurbishment works in the Hall were a success.

The works included (among other things) a new roof, new commercial kitchen, new toilets, new flooring, significant rewiring and replumbing, new heating system, provision for wheelchair accessibility through the building, new sound and lighting equipment for the stage and new doors and windows. There are of course further improvements that we hope to make in the near future, but it is now a modern facility that we hope will be used by you, the community, for decades to come.

The fundraising plaques that people purchased will be officially unveiled on the evening of March 2nd.

- Eyrecourt Park & Playground

This will be a multi-purpose event where the Community are also invited to attend a design consultation process on Eyrecourt Park and Playground (which will be situated in the field between the school and the Old Theatre).

We are delighted to have Gardiner and Foenander, a Landscape Architect and Design company attend, and they will present a number of design options for Eyrecourt Park and Playground where community members will be consulted and asked to give feedback on their favourite design. The Landscape Architects will then proceed with the most favoured option and update the design considering any feedback they reasonably can for the final planning application for Eyrecourt Park and Playground. This will be a public space for you, the community, so we hope you will attend and let them know your thoughts for the design. Everyone in the community (all ages, etc.) is welcome and encouraged to attend this event and participate in the Eyrecourt Park and Playground design consultation process, as it will be the only opportunity that you will have to speak to the designers before the planning application is made.

The children in Eyrecourt NS and Clonfert NS will be invited to participate in a park and playground design competition with the children’s artwork displayed at the event from 6pm.

The professional fees for the planning application are being financially supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development (via Galway County Council and the Town & Village Renewal Scheme). Once planning permission is obtained (we hope this summer), then we can begin to seek funding streams to construct the project.

- Historical photos and information

There will be a display of historical photos and information (census, etc.) from the area on the evening for people to look at and chat about, and it promises to be quite interesting.

We look forward to welcoming you on Sunday 2 March next 6-8pm.

We are thankful to have an amazing local artist to help with painting the tree mural in the hall associated with the recent fundraiser....
