Eyrecourt Hall Refurbishment

In December 2022 the Eyrecourt & District Development group received a grant for up to €282,728.92. The funding will go towards repairing the structure and functunality of our community centre including

  • replacing the leaking asbestos hall roof;

  • replacing the remaining old windows and doors;

  • insulation;

  • new heating system;

  • complete renovation of toilets;

  • new larger kitchen;

  • painting of full building inside and out;

  • repairing water damaged floor, and;

  • improving accessibility into and through the building.

Works began in Autumn 2023 and will be completed in early Spring 2024. The group needs to raise €30,000 which will cover match funding as well as costs for a number of additional minor works/items that are required but not covered by the grant.

Fundraising

A number of fundraisers have already taken place in the community in aid of the hall works, including a cycle, Christmas markets, Stephens Day cycle/walk/run and a vintage Autojumble. Other fundraising will be carried out in the coming months. Details will be posted here. A sincere thanks to all of those who helped out or contributed towards any of those events. At the moment we have one main fundraising drive:

"Buy a Leaf" Plaque

Eyrecourt community hall is deeply rooted within the community, and plays an important role in the area - From sports and youth discos to meetings and gatherings. Taking the metaphor of a solid and long-lived oak tree, it is one of the main trees within the community and we, the people, are the leaves which it supports and allows to flourish. We are offering the opportunity for people to buy a brass leaf plaque as part of a permanent tree mural which will be very visible in the building for decades to come.

You can have your Family Name and Townland displayed permanently on a brass name plate in the hall on completion of the refurb works. The cost to buy a brass leaf plaque is €200. This is a unique opportunity to have your family name displayed in our Community Hall. Each solid brass plaque will be engraved using a deep engraving process that is durable and will last the test of time. You could also buy a leaf plaque in loving memory of a deceased loved one, or you may have long left Eyrecourt and want to have your name (or your family name) permanently and physically etched into the heart of the Community here.

The cost to "Buy a Leaf" plaque is : €200

All of the money we receive will go to the cause of redeveloping the hall.

We look forward to seeing the hall works completed and we know the community will get behind the project.

Note: as we are a registered and regulated charity, it is possible for us to claim additional funds from the government when any PAYE individuals donate €250 or more within a calendar year. Further information and an example are provided here, but a €250 donation could be worth over €360 to the cause.  Therefore, we would invite you to consider donating €250 if you can (we would need to ask you to complete a simple form in the near future to claim the benefit).
